Firm Wins 2021 Trophy for Teddy Bear Drive Supporting Bears on Patrol
After collecting over a thousand stuffed bears, the firm received the 2021 Traveling Trophy for Medium Firm from the Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA). KCPA’s 2021 bear drive collected 4,762 bears in total for the local Bears on Patrol program. The program provides stuffed bears to local law enforcement who then provide them to children in the community who are going through traumatic experiences.
According to Kansas City Police Department Officer Hamill, “Being able to calm a child down with a teddy bear makes me feel good, as though I was helping them more than just trying to explain to them what was going on. Small children who are not directly involved in a situation but witnessed or was just present experience a level of stress they don’t understand. Getting a toy, like a teddy bear, helps to calm their nerves more than an adult ever could.”
This was Berkowitz Oliver’s 4th year participating in the stuffed bear drive for Bears on Patrol.
Berkowitz Oliver paralegal LeeAnn Parmenter currently serves as President of the KCPA, and paralegal Kim Cox serves as First Vice President.
